Minimal Living Room
A pared-back family living room where every piece earns its place — warm neutrals, rounded timber and a single sculptural table at the centre.
The brief was deceptively simple: a living room that could hold a family of four on a Sunday and eight guests on a Saturday, without ever looking crowded. We began by removing rather than adding — a false chimney breast came out, the ceiling rose was reinstated, and the floor was relaid in a single continuous plane.
Colour was kept within a two-step range of warm neutrals so that texture could do the talking. A boucle sofa sits against a lime-plastered wall; a hand-turned drum table anchors the centre; a wool rug in an undyed cream softens the acoustics of a room with very little soft furnishing.
Storage was the quiet problem to solve. Full-height joinery runs the length of the north wall, painted the same colour as the plaster so that it reads as architecture rather than furniture.
